Words From Chairman

ImageEducation is, in no doubt, an honourable but challenging job. Behind the valiancy of educating our next generation, the school, parents and teachers are working in tandem to cultivate the best environment for our daughters to learn, and to develop into confident, self-actualized young persons.

Teaching is a mission that has always earned my respect. I am greatly impressed by a teacher depicted in ‘Teach Like Your Hair’s On Fire’, a book that I read not long ago. His passion and effort in teaching have always reminded me of our teachers at Good Hope School - the ridgepoles of the painstaking education that has been leading our daughters to climb up the social ladder throughout the years. ‘I have to teach them lifelong knowledge’, is the word of the wise that has deeply engraved in my mind. Education is far beyond knowledge; it embraces moral standards, as well as the meaning, value and attitude towards life.

Therefore, as the newly established PTA, we strive to summon all enthusiastic parents to cooperate with the school to provide effective nurturing of our students. Parental support is especially favourable for the new element, namely Other Learning Experiences, of the New Senior Secondary curriculum. Through Other Learning Experiences, the school will organize a variety of programmes outside the classroom which include moral and civic education, aesthetic and physical activities, community service and career-related experiences. Parents’ involvement in the Other Learning Experiences can surely post a positive and long-lasting impact on your children’s development.

By actively supporting and cooperating with the school to advocate educational events, our students will be immersed into various learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Being exposed to the real world does not only nurture students’ potentials in different aspects, but also facilitates the well-balanced development in moral, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual respects.

Furthermore, through activities jointly organized by the school and the PTA, parents will be able to have a better insight into the school’s missions, aspirations, goals and development, as well as their own daughters learning progress inside and outside school.

I have a strong faith in the notion that ‘there is no un-teachable child’. I believe each individual child has infinite potential that is to be excavated. Thus teachers and parents shall collaborate and open the first doors of our children, allowing them to adequately develop and be equipped with their own potentials and talents, as to welcome challenges and stride towards the future.

Last but not least, I anticipate the PTA to serve as the bridge between parents, students and the school. The newly elected ex-co members will strive in accordance with the aim to serve, and hence benefiting every single student in the school. We hope all the wholehearted dedication of our parents will eventually lead to outstanding achievements of Good Hope students, who in spite of the world full of challenges, will live with pride as a pine. And we look forward to seeing Good Hope School, as a leading educational organization, to nurture more and more young and vibrant contributors for the society.
